1. How long have you been an RVT for?

I have been an RVT for 8 years.

2. When did you realize you wanted to become an RVT?

Growing up I knew i always was wanting to do something with animals. Becoming an RVT just seemed like the best thing for me to do. There was so many different possibilities when you are an RVT like to specialize in dentistry, working with zoo animals, large animals and even physical rehab. At the time i wasn’t sure what i was wanting to focus on but than i found it, Rehab!

3. What other jobs have you had (in the field of Veterinary Medicine or not), and what led you to working in Physical Rehabilitation? What specialized courses did you have to take/have you taken?

Following vet tech
I had a slight interest in dentistry and i completed on online specialty program in dentistry through the University of Guelph but my mind always kept going back to rehab. after my vet tech degree I went into the rehab program at northern college from there it was all i was interested in. Following college I went straight into the rehab field knowing that’s what i wanted to do and focus on. Since then I have completed my CCRP ( certified companion rehabilitation practitioner ) program, i am currently working on my CSCC ( certified canine strength and conditioning coach ) program. I have few more courses in mind to continue building my knowledge with rehab as there is always something new to learn!

4. What are your future goals as an RVT

Continue to help animals live their best lives!

5. Who was your first childhood pet?

We had a Husky/ shepard mix named Rollie and we called him “ Rollie the Wonder dog”. He was always very protective of my sisters and I and never would let us get to far from him!

6. What pets do you currently have?

We currently only have one dog- she is an 8year old Husky mix. She is a great dog to have around she is always up for anything we do like hiking or snowshoeing, even riding in the boat!

7. What is your favourite way to relax after work?

We have a 1.5 year old so we tend to be quite busy, but as a family we like to go on walks and play outside when the weather is right!

8. What is your favourite thing about working for Touch?

I love being able to help animals and see the progress that we help them achieve. Being able to help dogs get back to their normal lives is such a reward. My co-workers are pretty great too!!
